Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Scripture Art Hand Lettering coloring printable

Happy One-Week-From-Thanksgiving!

Seriously though. How is it this time of year already? Am I the only one who this season has snuck up on? But enough about me and my being out of touch with reality 😉

I thought it would be fun to post the drawing I did last Thanksgiving at the request of my then three year old (now four). Again, where does the time go?? I shared this with my facebook friends last year, since I hadn’t yet made the leap to blogland. But now it’s here for you! And the plan is to have another brand new one posted for you by next Thursday (now that I’ve made peace with the fact that it will indeed be Thanksgiving Week in a few short days).

You can download the printable here and then check back for the new one — or subscribe in your reader so you don’t miss any posts 🙂

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with my personal gallery of completed masterpieces, done by 4 amazingly artistic kiddos. We’d love to see yours when you’re done!

Numbering The Days

It seems like pretty much my whole life I’ve wished that I could slow down time. Especially since becoming a mother. Don’t you just want to press the pause button when you see how fast the littles are growing up? Well, most of the time anyway.

Add to that, the fact that there never seem to be enough hours in the day. So many boxes to check on my myriad to-do lists, so many books I plan to read – or finish. So many projects relegated to the “someday” pile. And all the while, the days, the years, are slipping away.

Sometimes it keeps me awake at night. Worrying over things left undone. Anxious about what wasn’t done just right.

Maybe Definitely because of this, I have loved Psalm 90 for as long as I can remember. The title of this particular chapter in my Bible is The Eternal God & Mortal Men, and it never ceases to comfort and encourage my heart when I can step back and remember things from an eternal perspective.

From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

Perspective.

An ongoing prayer of mine is that I would learn to “number my days,” like it says in verse 12 …

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

A prayer to truly number my days in the right way. To stop the hurry and the worry and the striving after unattainable “perfection” – whether it’s a “perfect” appearance, family, house, schedule, meal plan, career, or any of the million other things vying for position.

Instead, to put the Lord first, and trust Him with the rest.

P.S. On a fun sidenote, I’m loving Instagram & the way I’m able to record snapshots of my fleeting days semi-regularly. Look me up (hopeink) if you’ve discovered it too 🙂

The Happy Day Project

Printable Love Cards

The Happy Day Project is here! If you haven’t heard, here’s the deal: these two lovely ladies, Julie and Jeannett, have decided to “spread sunshine” in a way that blesses people in unexpected ways and they’re inviting everyone to join in the fun.

Every day this week will feature a new idea on how to share joy with those around us, usually someone who won’t be expecting it, but who might really be needing the encouragement. Nothing huge and elaborate. Simple and doable. Oh, and along with the ideas, they’ll be posting free printables to make it even easier.

I was super excited to be able to design the note cards for Handwritten Note Day (today!). Cheery. Cute. Fun. And I guarantee if you print one out, write a sweet message and pop it in the mail, someone on the other end is going to be so very blessed. There’s even a black & white version for the kiddos (or you – hey, I love to color) so they can personalize it even more.

You can find the free printable cards here or over at Joy’s Hope or Life Rearranged.

Naturally, I’d love to see your finished creations and hear about how you were blessed to be a blessing this week!

Overflowing?

May the God of hope fill you with all joy & peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. {Romans 15:13}

It’s hard for me to comprehend being filled with all joy & peace, or that it is possible for me to actually overflow with hope. Doesn’t it seem so impossible, so out of reach – at least most days? That is, if I overlook those last seven words. Without that simple qualifying clause it is impossible … but “by the power of the Holy Spirit” I can, you can, truly overflow with hope. Amazing thought.
