This is one of my daughter’s favorite verses. Mine too. Such sweet and necessary encouragement that we can do hard things -even seemingly impossible things- when we’re relying on Christ to give us His strength.

If you missed my last post about some recent challenges I’ve faced, you can find it here.

And don’t forget to check out the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle if you haven’t had a chance to yet. (Today’s the last day)

but by the seeds that you plant. -Robert Louis Stevenson

Hi Friends!

Maybe you’ve noticed that it’s been rather quiet around Hope Ink lately. I’ve missed connecting with you, and pray that this little note finds you well. This year has definitely been a time of growth and “seed-planting” for me –even if fruit isn’t usually visible. Can you relate?

Along with family, parenting, ministry, and the daily-ness of life, I’ve been asking the Lord to help me be more faithful with my time and health. I don’t know about you, but those are some of the first things to suffer when life gets too busy and I start feeling overwhelmed.

So, I started by making some simple changes (simple, yes -but definitely not easy). One of those is saying “yes” less often. I realized that I was saying yes to too many (good) things, and not leaving enough room for the best things.

summer smiles | Hope Ink

Along with simplifying my schedule, I decided to be more intentional about how I was taking care of my health. As with any major change, there’s been stops and starts, ups and downs, but overall I’m in a much better place physically than I was last year. And I’m also significantly lighter, weight-wise (hallelujah!).

I’m planning to share more about the details of what’s worked for me, for those of you who have asked, so stay tuned! I know I’m always encouraged to hear others’ stories of overcoming challenges and what made the difference.

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know about one great resource that I’m looking forward to getting a lot out of in my own ongoing health journey. It’s a package of e-books, classes, and other materials specifically designed to help us (and our families) get healthy – and stay healthy.

Available for only a few days, the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle is packed with over 100 eBooks, eCourses, printables, and even a membership site and online summit on all things healthy living.

These are a few of the books and classes that I’m especially looking forward to digging into (and when you consider that the value of just these 5 resources alone is more than $135, the bundle price of $29.97 is even more amazing)!

Healthy Living Bundle 2017 Plus, I pretty much love everything Wardee from Traditional Cooking does – and in her Pressure Cooking eCourse (included in the bundle), she shares great tips & recipes for my new favorite kitchen tool, the magical Instant Pot.

So check it out, and let me know if you have any questions about the Bundle or the changes I’ve been making – and if there’s a specific area you need encouragement in.

One thing I continue to be reminded of is that no matter what challenges we face in this life, there is always, always hope!

We used to live in a log cabin. This one, in fact.

I wrote about it a few years ago, with a bit of a home tour, when we realized it was time for us to leave the beautiful foothills and move back into town.

Even though we were certain it was the best thing for our family, we were sad at the prospect of giving up our rustic, one of a kind cabin with its rainbow of wildflowers and beautiful lake view. And that tire swing.

But, after making the gut-wrenching decision to sell … it didn’t. When almost a year had gone by, we decided to take it off the market and try again after the lake filled back up (which had gone dry for the first time in 25 years, during one of the worst droughts in California history). We agreed to call our realtor the next morning and cancel the listing.

Except that night, on a whim, I shared my blog post about the house on my personal Facebook page thinking, “let’s just give it just one more chance.”

Of course, you can probably guess what happened.

God, in His perfect timing, had just the right family (friends of friends) see the post and fall in love with our mountain cabin and decide to buy it –even though they hadn’t even been thinking of moving, let alone looking for a house. What?

Okay, but that’s not all. There’s more.

They asked if we would be willing to wait to finalize the sale until they could sell their house in town. At which point, I jokingly said, “Well, maybe we should just buy yours.”

So we did.

Seriously, how amazing is God?

We traded houses. And moved in on the same day.

Miracle. Plain and simple.

Moving Truck

They met us in the driveway of the new-to-us house. Yep, as we were pulling in with our moving truck, they were pulling out. It still makes me want to cry thinking about how God orchestrated all the details.

Welcome Home Banner

And this is what greeted us in our new home from this dear family who gave us their house and inherited ours. All because of God.

So, while we grieved over leaving the mountains, all of these things only emphatically confirmed that the Lord was going before us. And that even though we couldn’t see the big picture (and still don’t), He is beyond trustworthy.

We’ve traded our wildflowers for honeysuckle and roses. And our mountain lake (now brimming over after the record rainfall last year) for a backyard swimming pool, usually filled with friends during the hot summer months.

It truly is a home sweet home.

Whew! So that’s it. That’s our moving story. I know I promised to share it a loooong time ago (it’s been more than year since we moved) … but life. My husband has continued to struggle with health issues, which is the main reason we needed to move. Although being in town has absolutely been the best thing for him. Without a doubt. So even though I traded my ginormous art studio for a corner of the living room, it’s more than worth it.

One thing the Lord has taught me through this moving adventure, maybe more than anything else, is that there is no perfect home. Not here anyway. Heaven is our dream home. That is what my heart should be set on. Seeing Him face to face. Being really, truly home forever.

One of my absolute favorite songs for Easter (or for any day of the year) is Don Francisco’s He’s Alive.

I’ve been laid up with the flu the past few days, so I was able to put my rest time to good use and make this little art printable for you. You can click on the image above to download and print (trim to 8×10 with a white border for a standard frame size -or 5×7 for a bit smaller).

Then rejoice that Jesus is alive! And, if you’ve put your faith in Him, you’re completely and utterly forgiven!

I also had time to finish this new coloring page printable (sometimes sickness is productive, apparently). You can click on the image to download and color with the kiddos to your heart’s content. I’ve also added these to the Printables Page if you want to see if there’s any you might have missed.
Happy Resurrection Day!

He’s Alive   -Don Francisco
The gates and doors were barred and all the windows fastened down,
I spent the night in sleeplessness and rose at every sound,
Half in hopeless sorrow half in fear the day,
Would find the soldiers crashing through to drag us all away.
Then just before the sunrise I heard something at the wall,
The gate began to rattle and a voice began to call,
I hurried to the window and looked down to the street,
Expecting swords and torches and the sound of soldiers feet,

There was no one there but Mary so I went down to let her in,
John stood there beside me as she told us were she’d been,
She said they moved him in the night and none of us knows where,
The stones been rolled away and now his body isn’t there.
We both ran toward the garden then John ran on ahead,
We found the stone and the empty tomb just the way that Mary said,
But the winding sheet they wrapped him in was just an empty shell,
And how or where they’d taken him was more than I could tell.

Something strange had happened there but what I did not know,
John believed a miracle but I just turned to go,
Circumstance and speculation couldn’t lift me very high,
Cause I’d seen them crucify him and then I’d watched him die,
Back inside the house again all the guilt and anguish came,
Everything I’d promised him just added to my shame,
But at last it came to choices I denied I knew his name,
Even If he was alive it wouldn’t be the same.

But suddenly the air was filled with a strange and sweet perfume,
Light that came from everywhere drove shadows from the room,
Jesus stood before me with his arms held open wide,
And I fell down on my knees and clung to him and cried,
He raised me to my feet and as I looked into his eyes,
Love was shining out from him like sunlight from the sky,
Guilt and my confusion disappeared in sweet release,
And every fear I’d ever had just melted into peace.

He’s alive, He’s alive, He’s alive and I’m forgiven,
Heavens gates are open wide.
He’s alive, He’s alive, He’s alive and I’m forgiven,
Heavens gates are open wide.
He’s alive, He’s alive, He’s alive and I’m forgiven,
Heavens gates are open wide.

He’s alive!

We had so much fun at the Old Town Flea Market last month in Clovis – thanks to everyone who stopped by (and brought us coffee … and tea … and snacks … and coffee)!

We sold the majority of what we brought, which means we’ve been busy re-stocking for this coming up in a few days …

Sweet friends and I will be at the Lydia & Pearl Market this Saturday at Lana Coffee, with lots of fun shopping (and coffee!) to be had. The holiday market benefits City Without Orphans, and is a wonderful opportunity to shop local, while helping out an important and meaningful cause. Would love to see you if you’re in the area! Make sure to tell me you saw it on my blog or newsletter so I can sneak a special gift into your bag ;)

Also, a fun little secret about these calendars … they’re sold out in the online shop, but I saved some to bring to the Market on Saturday! I’ve gotten so many requests for them, along with the big wall-size one (which I’ll also have a few of), so this is your chance to grab one if you’re close by! Plus, I hear the coffee alone is worth the trip downtown ;)

Merry Christmas, my friends!

Happy Thanksgiving week, friends!

First, I wanted to let you know that the 2017 calendars are here! There’s not many left after pre-sales and they’ll only be available in the Hope Ink shop until the end of the week (or when they sell out, whichever comes first).

Scripture Art Calendar + Hope Ink

This is the big, beautiful wall calendar, professionally press-printed on heavy paper stock. Each month is frame-worthy, so you’re really getting 13 large, lovely Scripture art prints along with your 2017 calendar ;)

There’s also the super-popular mini calendars which come complete with a fun wooden hanger so you can hang it anywhere. These are such a great gift to be enjoyed all year (and, like the large calendars, the art can be re-purposed when each month is over).

I had such fun putting these together, and I hope they’ll be a sweet blessing for you wherever they’re displayed in the new year (but 2017, really?!).

Finally, here’s the usual round-up of free coloring printables especially for Thanksgiving! Would love to see how you use them :)
