It’s the first day of November, and I’m so excited to be sneaking off this weekend for a little retreat in the mountains. In the midst of a super busy season, I’m looking forward to time with friends, time with the Lord, and time to just … be.

Although I love home, it’s nice to get away from the everyday routines and responsibilities every now and then. Don’t you think?

Even when we might not have time or resources to take an actual trip, there are other ways to create that needed rest and recharging right where we are. Long ago, when I was a single girl, instead of a wife and mom, I went on a mission trip to the jungles of the Amazon.

Looking back now, I can see that it was a series of miracles that took me there –and brought me safely home again. Including the fact that after paying for my plane ticket and living expenses for two months, I set off on my journey with only a small backpack and $20 in my pocket.
