Tree Of Life

A Longing Fulfilled is a Tree of Life

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
‭‭[Proverbs‬ ‭13:12‬]

Last week, my girls & I went on a field trip with friends to The Painted Press and each of us got to design whatever we liked on one of their beautiful jewelry dishes. This was mine, a verse and image with special meaning to my husband and I. Words of promise and hope.

The next day, eleven people lost their lives at the Tree Of Life Synagogue in Pennsylvania. Seven of those killed were alive during the Holocaust. I have no words.

So I turn to the back of the Book and read these words …

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. ‭‭[Revelation‬ ‭22:1-5‬]

Words of promise and hope.

As For Me And My House + Limited Edition

As For Me And My House We Will Serve The Lord | Joshua 24-15 | Hope Ink Scripture Art

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Our world, our lives … can be hard, crazy, way-too-busy, exciting, scary, beautiful, uncertain, lonely, painful, and unexpectedly sweet. Up and down, back and forth, always changing.

So what a gift, what a solid anchor it is to know that HE never changes. Strong and steady. Always faithful. To be reminded that whatever shifts around us, THIS is the main thing.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Family

To do our best with the days and the talents we’ve been given. To bring glory to Him. To love others.

In between the usual summer camps and sports schedules, our family will be heading out soon with our church to come alongside another local church in Mexico. We’ll be helping to build houses for two extended families there, along with facilitating a Vacation Bible School.

Of course, as we’ve been preparing for our trip, along with practical household items we’re gathering to share with the families, I had to sneak in some pretty art for the as-yet-unconstructed walls of the new homes.

Pero Yo Y Mi Casa Seviremos A Jehova | Josue 24-15 | Spanish Scripture Art by Hope Ink

A few weeks ago, we baked up a storm and cleaned out the garage for a Saturday morning yard-sale-bake-sale-fundraising-extravaganza.

We’re looking forward to what the Lord has in store for all of us, as we step out in faith to share His love and goodness in this concrete way. And we would absolutely love your prayers –for the team, the families, the logistics, and most of all, that God would be glorified.

And if you’d like to help support the trip in another tangible way, I put together a super special, limited edition Instant Art Collection in the Hope Ink shop. It includes the brand new Serve print, in both English and Spanish versions, along with three more travel and hospitality themed designs!

Hope Ink Art Collection Summer 2018 | Scripture Printables

This collection is extra meaningful to me because of what it represents, and I would love to share it with as many of you as I can. So, unlike physical prints that need to be shipped, you can download these instantly! Many of you have asked for this option in the past, so let me know what you think and if it’s something you’d like to see more of.

The Limited Edition Journey Collection is just $10 for all five designs – an 80% savings! Hurry though, because it’s only available this week (ends Friday, July 27th).

Instant Printable Art Collection

Thank you, friends, for your prayers and encouragement. Looking forward to sharing more about our adventure with you soon.

Also, how are these babies old enough to go on a mission trip?!

Free Planning Printables | Hope Ink

Like most of you, January usually brings out the planner in me!

So I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite calendar-y type printables and other rainbow goodies … (and I’d love to hear of any others you’ve found!)

The happy striped planner was a Christmas gift (picked out by me!), designed by the lovely Ruth at Living Well – you can FIND IT HERE.

Best of My Days Printable

This is a fun printable for each month from Ashley at Under The Sycamore – “The idea is simple: write down the best part of your day … each day.”

Bible Reading Tracker Printable

I love this Bible reading tracker from Jaimi at Raising Up Rubies – a simple and pretty way to keep track of your time in God’s Word each day.

Free Goal Planning Printable | Hope Ink

This is a new goal planning + gratitude worksheet I just created – inspired by our Pastor’s sermon this last Sunday. It has space to reflect on the previous year’s blessings and challenges, as well as dream for the upcoming year. If you have kids, this is a great one to have each of them do (on their own – or with a little help from mom, as needed). And if you have boys (like mine) – they may not appreciate the pink rose embellishments, which is why I made a plain version, sans roses. You can find both on the Hope Ink Printables page, along with the Year At A Glance Calendar for 2018

We had lotssssssss of entries on the Calendar-Giveaway-For-You-And-A-Friend over on Instagram and Liz E. was the happy winner of two of these big art calendars …

And since many of you asked about how to get your own, I’m having another limited run printed this week. They’re back in the Hope Ink shop (on sale for 20% off, along with the few remaining mini-hanger calendars) – but only until Sunday, so don’t miss out!

My sweet Ruby girl and I restocked local shops in Clovis, Kingsburg, and Visalia this weekend with Hope Ink goodies, along with some brand new Ruby Rose treasures – so if you get a chance to stop by Revival 23 or Enjoy The Store, be sure to keep a lookout for them!

Every Day Is A Gift

Every Day Is A Gift | Hope Ink Art

One of the first things I remember my parents telling me about my birth was that I was born dead. No breath in my body. The umbilical cord wrapped three times around my neck – a still, lifeless, blue-faced baby.

And because they were teenage hippies, living in a strict, religious commune, my birth day unfolded far from any hospitals and doctors that might have been equipped for such a medical emergency. Instead, I was born into the hands of a midwife in the crowded bedroom of a rundown house, part of a compound shared by forty or so other people in a sketchy part of town. The only life-saving measure available to them in that place was prayer. And so they prayed. Word was passed from person to person, room to room: the baby’s not breathing; pray.

Finally, after several long minutes had gone by –more than anyone thought possible to still sustain life, God heard their prayers and answered with breath in my lungs. It was a miracle, they said. I shouldn’t be alive. But I was.

Because of this, even as a small child, I always had the sense that I had cheated death somehow. That every day I got to live, breathing, was one more than I should have had.

Life is a gift.

Baby Em

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. -Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬
